With Gumroad I've been able to "set it and forget it." The interaction was very easy to navigate--I posted my books, set the price, and sent out a link to customers. There are tons of other features as well. And I like the fact that there are various ways to negotiate your relationship with Gumroad depending upon your level of sales.
Outside of the tech-based creator economy, more people have heard of ebook publishing platforms than they've heard of Gumroad, so I had a few customers who had trouble finding their way to the site (even with a link). I'm not thrilled with the tax reporting--it feels like an afterthought.
Gumroad taught me how to upload videos successfully. Their support docs are excellent--easy to read and applicable across platforms. The platform is excellent for scaling your operations from teeny-tiny (me) to significantly larger (while still being a small business).
I like the interface for gummroad. It makes creating the products I want to sell really easy. I just launched my first free product before my paid one and it was easy as pie!
I wish their profile page had more options for customization. I want a section to add more than just a bio- maybe an intro video, some socials, more pics, things like that.
I finally found a platform that doesn't charge me until I earn. As a newbie at ecommerce, I was super excited to finally find a platform that takes 10% of what you earn (initially).
The options to create a product and ad multiple discounts
I dislike the new interface is so unpleasant for using its like some toy and not real helpful product.
i can sell easily my electronic contents
The diversity and variety of content and courses
The ui could be better. It sometimes confuses where you are.
I can find courses that you don't find else where.
I have used Gumroad (and a few others) to sell books and courses and Gumroad has by far been the simplest to use. You are up and running super fast and integration with your own website could not be simpler.
No real dislikes at the level I was using it for. I have sold a couple of thousand dollars worth of digital product through the site but only ever one or two products at a time so I never had to manage a lot of items.
I found it a remarkably simple and professional looking method to sell digital products through my existing website.
I use Gumroad because of it's pay-what-you-want and variable pricing options. I could not find another option that offered this feature. I also really love how easy it is to integrate Gumroad into my website. It's SUPER easy to use and I think the end-user-experience for my customers is pretty seamless as well.
I wish I could customize the email receipts and product delivery more. Gumroad give you the option of delivering files to customers or to redirect them to a link. If I could change one thing it would be more formatting and customization of the email confirmation.
We sell online classes in low volume and with pay-what-you-want pricing and I needed a low-cost, flexible delivery system. Gumroad offer EXACTLY that. It is low-cost to integrate into my suite of software tools we use, and makes it so easy and simple to launch new products. I'm using it more and more these days for class sign-ups both for asynchronous and synchronous classes.
The fast and straightforward UI. There are no unnecessary elements on the purchase page. Basically has only features that are required for selling products by the creators.
Sometimes the pages have gone down from the internet, making things a little tricky. There can be SEO functionality on the product pages, so that we can optimize these pages.
I was able to sell my courses through Gumroad. The onboarding process was smooth and simple. I could create my profile and product pages in a matter of 10-15 minutes.
It's ridiculously easy to set up in minutes. In your account, you click on "New Product" and follow along. Gumroad delivers digital products like pdfs or audios straight for download or directs them to your membership/course site right to your customer's inbox. Just connect your payment gateways and you're off! Embedding the products into your website is also very easy, loads well and the customer UI and experience is a smooth, seamless process that beats other platforms. Best for small casual solopreneurs/freelancers/hobbyists that sell low-volume digital products, like 30 sales of a $20 product. Also for those who don't exactly like marketing their goods, as Gumroad allows your product to be displayed in their marketplace called Gumroad Discover.
I don't like the stark look of the November 2021 redesign, the old one was softer and filled out, and less harsh on the eyes. The new one seems too graffiti and Andy Warhol-like. Their 10% flat fee is too much of a cut. This is not including the fees Stripe/Paypal take away. So if you have a $50 product, you'd get less than $45. Comparing this to platforms like Snappy Checkout, which is just $0.50 per transaction. Or a professional selling platform like Paykickstart, where if you sold 10 products at $100, you'd have made back the subscription fee compared to Gumroad. As in, you can continue selling and technically pay no more fees to Paykickstart on their Starter tier, up to $10k/mth, while you still have to pay that 10% to Gumroad. Gumroad also does not have any order bumps or upsells as of March 2023, so it's not possible to build a sales funnel. If you plan to earn more than $1000, it doesn't make financial sense to use Gumroad.
Back in 2016, I needed a quick setup for my digital courses and Gumroad was a robust, feature-rich, and fast solution. I got my first sales using Gumroad and it was a good introduction to sales.
Ease of set up and functions well for getting a store going. No monthly fee
Too high a percentage of sales fee. CEO is a right wing troll on Twitter which I do not want to fund. They changed the UI with no notice and have little customization options. Exchanging currency when both customer and seller not in US dollar which causes uncertainty with fluctuations between payment and pay out.
Easy way to sell products online with no monthly fee.
Its popular, Its User Interface is good. It's easy to use.
Fees, The total fees comes upto about 13% taking into account the Gumroad fee and the payment processing fee.
It helps me sell my digital downaloads
The price. They will not charge you unless you make a profit from your sales. I highly recommend this site as opposed to Click Funnels and Samcart. This works best.
Honestly, I just signed up, and so far, I do not see any negatives regarding the site. It is easy to set up; I have yet to have any hiccups on the website so far.
I have uploaded a handful of videos that I have for sale. I just started and signed up for the site and have not made any sales as of yet, but it seems like a great place to sell anything.
The thing that I most appreciate about Gumroad is how easy the platform makes it to get a product out into the world without the hurdles of first having to have a website, set up an online store, or pay costly software fees. I also appreciate that using Gumroad lets me keep most of my profits for myself.
I know this sounds picky, but I wish the style of the "Buy" button that is embedded on my website could be customized with a WYSIWYG editor instead of me having to know how to write/edit CSS in order to change the appearance. The default white button doesn't stand out at all against the white background of my website, but I haven't changed it yet because it's not easy for me to do so. One other issue that I sometimes experience is when customers input the wrong email address when going through the payment process and I receive an angry email from them saying they never got their digital product. I wish there was some way for customers to view their order and see/fix their own mistake before immediately disputing the purchase (which is what they sometimes do).
Gumroad lets me market my ebooks directly to my email subscribers and site visitors without having to go through the complex process of publishing an ebook on Amazon. I'm also able to price my books higher and keep a greater percentage of the profit than I would selling on Amazon.
- Simple to use interface - Accepts credit cards & PayPal - Decent looking checkout pages - Discount codes available - One-time, subscription, & payment plan options - Able to generate license keys per sale (good for software) - Free plan is great to get started
- No trial capabilities - No A/B split testing - No Apple Pay or other forms of payment processing - No bump offers, up sells, or down sells - No live chat or Facebook group - only email support
- AB split testing should be available - Apple pay must be accepted - Live chat should be supported
It is a very simple and friendly shopping cart for anyone that lets you quickly start selling products online. It is free to start.
There is no support for Apple Pay. also, No live chat feature or Facebook community. It is also not having A/B testing functionality
It would be great if we can integrate the product with others.
How simple it is to set up and how quick it is to go live with a product
Lack of customisation and extension of the current feature set
Sold a few education content pieces through them - the commissions they take are the lowest I've seen and has worked well for me
